Rob & Anne Simpson recipients of the Tampa Human Rights Award 2004

Elaine Smith, from Hastings RAR announced the winners of the 2004 Tampa Human Rights Award at the 2005 RAR conference dinner held in the Southern Highlands. The 2004 Tampa Award was presented to Rob and Anne Simpson, from Bellingen RAR, for their dedication to refugees and their extraordinary contribution to the pro-refugee movement".

Rob tried his best to "get away" and leave the talking to Anne, but he was soon dragged back to the floor by Anne who thanked RAR for the award and was keen to point out that her and Rob have always worked as a team and have been fortunate enough to have one another for support and relief.

"I don't think there is a person in the room who doesn't deserve this award" said Anne and she spoke of the importance of the RAR movement and thanked the founders, Helen McCue, Susan Varga and Anne Coombs for there insight, dedication and ongoing commitment. A big thank you also to Elaine for her kind words.

Thanks once again to Michael and Greg of Redback Graphix for the stylish plaque.
