Journey Towards Hope

Inspired by the current narrative surrounding migrants and refugees, Journey Towards Hope, is an interactive festival of resilience. An evening to enrich the soul. A visual trip across continents exploring the resilience, strength and hope of refugees and migrants. The event narrates and shares stories of resilience via theatre, short-films, story-telling/poetry, simulation, displays etc.
Participants who attend this event will be are assigned a group of 30-35 (the groups are named after councils in order of migrant/refugee influx). Individuals will be separated and grouped with strangers to create the voyage experienced by the newly arrived.

Each group will have a guide. Guides are people from refugee backgrounds and will ensure experience of each station is personalized.

The night will be separated into simulated stations:
Station 1 – 4-5 Short Stories monologue by individuals in a room (20 mins)
Station 2 – Simulation Environment of the journey taken by Refugees (20 mins)
Station 3 – Display Exhibition – a tour of a museum-esque room which provides a visual adventure that drives home the stories of resilience, strength and hope (20 mins)
Station 4 – Short Film (20 mins) – altogether
Station 5 – Poetry Slam – 4-5 Spoken Word Poetry pieces (20 mins) – altogether

Whilst the groups are going around, they can ask simple questions, though the focus is on listening to the stories and move on. Finally, at the end, participants will be provided an opportunity and debrief in separate rooms.
