The #MeetFadak speaking tour arrives in East Brighton as Fadak Alfayadh sits down in conversation with author, and refugee advocate, Mariam Issa. Together in conversation, they will share stories of resilience from their own lived experience.

Join us for a morning of storytelling, intercultural dialogue and community in the comfort of Mariam’s garden as they talk about the power of stories to change the narrative of refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia.

This event is free to refugees and Indigenous people. Tickets can be requested by contacting .

Every Australian needs to meet Fadak. Fadak Alfayadh is an Iraqi-Australian refugee lawyer on a mission to reclaim her voice and tell her story in her own words through a refugee-led national speaking tour, with the support of Road to Refuge. Together they raised $10,000 this year to embark on a new type of storytelling campaign to challenge the stories about Fadak and other people like her.

Mariam Issa is currently a board member of Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC), an ambassador for Refugee Council of Australia, a Director at Family Peace and co-founder of Space2b
