Brisbane: 200 Days of Protest on Nauru

5 October 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Footpath protest in solidarity with the Nauru protesters

In commemoration of 200 days of daily protests at Nauru

When & where:

Wednesday, 5th October, 12 noon – 1pm, on the footpath outside Department of Immigration & Border Protection, 299 Adelaide St, Brisbane.

Asylum seeker families in RPC3 & refugees in the adjacent Anijue camp on Nauru have been protesting every day since March 20 (Palm Sunday). They have courageously continued their protests despite ongoing harassment. Protest leaders such as Hamid have been imprisoned on trumped up charges, and guards have tried to steal mobile photos to stop them sending photos and videos of the protests to the outside world.

The torture on Nauru must end. Join us to mark the incredible milestone of 200 days of continuous protests and to strengthen the calls to #BringThemHere and end detention on Nauru and Manus Island.
