Guest speaker: Chilemwa Harriet Nkowane-Poole Solicitor and migration agent assisting Buddies
Chilemwa Nkowane-Poole is a solicitor and registered migration agent who is handling the protection claims of several of our asylum seeker friends. She offers casework assistance, appeal assistance and advocacy to migrants and refugees applying for Australian visas. Chilemwa is an experienced advocate in both women’s rights and human rights more broadly and is the Principal of the Migrant Women’s Advice Service based on the Gold Coast. Having migrated to Australia herself in 2002, Chilemwa is well versed in issues affecting the migrant community. Come along and meet Chilemwa and learn of her work and some of the legal hurdles facing our asylum seeker friends.
