Cairns: Feast of Freedom
April 4 @ 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Cairns 4 Refugees are hosting a Feast for Freedom – a fundraiser for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). Funds will be used to support people & families with their basic food, housing and medical needs; as well advocacy work for a fair, just & welcoming Australia.
Feast for Freedom is a celebration of community coming together in unity to stand with refugees and people seeking asylum and raise vital funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. It is a true celebration of refugees and people seeking asylum – their food, their culture, their stories and their contribution to Australian cultural diversity.
We are cooking recipes gifted by people who sought asylum here in Australia – Genet, from Ethiopia and Hamed, from Iran. We are honoured to have the assistance of members of the Ethiopian community who will be preparing Ethiopian flatbread (injera) for us and hosting a traditional coffee ceremony at the end of the meal.
Make sure you invite your friends to this delicious experience.
We have kept the price of dining low. There will be opportunity to donate on the night and we’ll also have a raffle with some awesome prizes. There is a bar at the venue with drinks at bar prices (not associated with Cairns for Refugees).
Children under 12 $10
Grab your tickets by 31 March for catering purposes.
