CENTRAL COAST: Circle of Silence
17 March 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm
In the lead up to the Federal Election we will be conducting Circle of Silences.
A Circle of Silence is about expressing solidarity with people seeking asylum and refugees experiencing injustice and who are being silenced. Its a powerful way to get our message across, standing in a circle in a public space for half an hour in silence, with signs telling people why we are there.
Every 5 minutes a bell will be rung and the names of the men who died on Manus will be read out. Information flyers will be distributed to people passing.
Its about us expressing concern about the inhumane and unjust refugee policies that are in place at the moment. Its about us taking a stand against all the fear mongering and racism being spread.
The Circle of Silence is an opportunity for all people to stand up and say NO to what is happening in regards to the lack of moral and compassionate Refugee Policy.
What would be truly wonderful would be that if this Circle Of Silence Movement could grow. That some of you may decide to conduct your own Circle of Silence, in your local neighbourhood, work place or school? How wonderful if this Circle of Silence Movement was all over the Central Coast, raising awareness , educating people about what is happening to refugees under the current policies.
Below is a schedule of where over the 6 weeks we will be holding Circles of Silence: This schedule will be updated for times and locations for the month of April. It will also be updated if new Circles are scheduled. There is a flyer (see attached) which you can share and print.
We will also be creating event pages for each events so please stay tuned!
