Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees holds Human Rights Day event

An eminent Australian, Fr Rod Bower will be the guest speaker at the annual Human Rights Day event held by Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees at the Holy Name Primary School  Hall, Lake Street, Forster at 2pm on Saturday, October 20.

Fr Rod is a celebrated advocate for human rights and social justice in Australia.

Outspoken is a unique book that looks at the inspiring evolution of a man set on making the world a better place, one sign at a time. We are very fortunate that Fr Rod has agreed to visit the Great Lakes area and share his perspectives on his life experiences,” said Gaye Tindall, from Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees.

Great Lakes Rural Australians for Refugees, first started in 2002, has been continually active in presenting community events and promoting the importance of human rights, in line with the United Nations Charter.

Through extensive community support $40,000 has been raised for much needed assistance for organisations who directly help asylum seekers and refugees in Australian detention centres.

Everyone is welcome to this special free event. Refreshments will served following the 2pm address.
