Geelong: CRAG Meeting

6 October 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

SPECIAL MEETING THIS THURSDAY 6TH OCTOBER AT
GEELONG TRADES HALL 127 MYERS ST 5.30 PM

All are welcome to attend this week’s CRAG meeting where we will be reviewing the past years actions, hearing about local, state and national directions, and regrouping to decide where CRAG needs to go in order to increase advocacy for more humane and just policies for people seeking asylum.
There are changes in public sentiment against mandatory prolonged detention, and we need to counter the rise of the right wing fear-mongering.
Please be part of Geelong and regions’ sustained attempts to make a difference.
Looking forward to positive robust discussions.

Invitation to General Meeting of Combined Refugee Action Group (Geelong)

Dear friends of people seeking asylum and refugees,

The Combined Refugee Action Group was formed as a political response to the PNG solution in 2013 and the deteriorating political attitudes towards human rights.  Much has happened since then and there is still so much to do.  The current situation for asylum seekers is critical.  With the recent federal election and world events it is time for CRAG to review its role and aims for the future.  We want you to be part of that review and discussion.

You are invited to the

General Meeting;

Thursday 6th October 2016, 5.30pm

Geelong Trades Hall, 127 Myers St. Geelong

There will be an update on the latest developments from around the country and then a discussion on the future role of CRAG which will include the following:

  • Should CRAG continue and in what form,
  • Working with and helping other groups,
  • What should the focus of our campaigns be and what events should we be doing,
  • What are the priorities and
  • How best can we change people’s thinking and government policy?

Your input to this discussion is most important and valued.  We can achieve much more together and humanity and asylum seekers’ rights will ultimately benefit from a stronger human rights movement.

If you are unable to attend please ensure your organisation is represented.

A light supper and refreshments will be provided so please RSVP for catering purposes to or the Facebook event page.

Yours sincerely
