Melbourne: Film: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Amnesty International Urgent Actions Victoria presents –


Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea,

A 52- minute documentary looking at the circumstances and decisions that lead someone to become a ‘Boat Person.”

This will be followed by a short presentation by a speaker on refugee issues. Some catering will be provided and people will have the opportunity to sign up to the Urgent Action network if they are not already members.

The Urgent Action Network is made up of 165,000 people around the world who are outraged by injustice and prepared to act swiftly at critical moments to stop it. Over the past 40 years, the network has, through its letter writing, protected people from torture and ill-treatment, obtained the release of people who were wrongly – and sometimes secretly – detained, and secured access to medical treatment or legal counsel for prisoners.
