Melbourne: Public Forum: ‘The Pacific Solution: What can we learn from the case of Behrouz Boochani?’

18 November 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Wednesday evening, November 18 at 6.30 pm, at Melbourne University:

‘The Pacific Solution: What can we learn from the case of Behrouz Boochani?’

Arnold Zable will be taking part in the panel discussion, with Carmen Lawrence, David Manne, Daniel Webb, and it will conclude with an extract of Boochani’s Manus Island writings to be read by Janet Galbraith.

Behrouz Boochani is a Kurdish-Iranian journalist, writer, and human rights advocate, who fled Iran in fear of his safety only to end up in the hellhole of the Manus Island detention centre where he has been held since mid 2013.

He has continued to write and bear witness to what is happening to his fellow inmates in the centre. PEN International continues to campaign on his behalf as an imprisoned writer. He deserves our support and will be heartened by your attendance. It will be great to see you there.

From The Age: September 22, 2015  Iranian journalist Behrouz Boochani tells of the horrors of Manus Island: out of sight, out of mind  by Arnold Zable

Admission is free and seating will be limited.
