In the lead up to the first Global Refugee Forum in December, Federal Labor MP Peter Khalil will discuss how the historic event can help shape the international response to the refugee crisis.

Peter Khalil will detail his vision for Australia’s role in leading this global effort and how as a country we can move forward and end the toxic debate around refugee policy that has dominated our politics for almost two decades.

The son of Egyptian migrants and former foreign policy advisor to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Peter offers a rare perspective amongst federal parliamentarians on the challenges and triumphs of multicultural Australia.

His speech is sure to inspire debate on the important geopolitical role Australia can play into the future, not just in our region but globally.

Please join us from 9:30am for light refreshments, the lecture and Q&A will begin at 10am.
