Newcastle: Film; Chasing Asylum

Students Against Detetion are holding a film screening, Q&A session with the director Eva Orner and an information session regarding offshore detention and the University of Newcastle’s contract with Broadspectrum.
Chasing Asylum, released in May 2016 is a documentary that exposes the reality of Australia’s treatment of asylum seekers.
The film has never before seen footage from inside Manus and Nauru Islands off-shore deteniton centers.
Interviews from physcologists and security guards employed to run the centers, and from the families of people who have died while being detained are featured.
The violence and corruption that inflitrates the management of these facilities is uncovered.
