Activists came together with renewed zeal on November 15, when they will hold a public meeting with National President of Rural Australians for Refugees, Marie Sellstrom.
A Hazara refugee who now calls the Australian outback home, Ali named his new venture the “Afghan Friendship Restaurant”, a tribute to the warm welcome he says he received after moving to the town of Griffith five years ago.
The Griffith University Refugee Scholarship is for commencing students who have experienced financial hardship, and/or educational disadvantage that has impacted on their ability to achieve their full potential.
The scholarship has a maximum value of $20,000, paid in installments of $2,500 for a maximum of eight payments.
Applications close: Sunday 9 December 2018.
